About Shop
On 2025.5.20, I showed my now-cofounder a book I had first made as a school project. I had just redrawn the cover and told her I was thinking of making 100 copies to see if anyone might want one. I also joked that if no one else bought it, I’d at least force her to.
A few days later, on 5.24, I asked if she wanted to hop on a call to chat about working on something cool together. I shared the idea of starting a small press — a place for zines and artist books. In today’s world, where everything is so fast and digital, the thought of a physical book felt calming, like it could hold a different kind of space. I hoped this niche might speak to at least 150 people, so we can make 150 copies of each creation. Turns out, she was one of them. She said yes immediately.
Back when we were in school, we took the CliftonStrengths test and discovered we were the only two “executors” in the class. At the time it felt like a random label, but now I see it as the thread that runs through everything we do. Our work together is part poetry, part problem-solving, part late-night stubbornness — and always a willingness to finish what we start.
When I once shared this idea with a friend who runs her own business, she said that most people distribute art in order to reach some final goal. But for us, the joy is different. Making art feels like stepping into the power of becoming — watching an idea change shape as we sketch, talk, and pass it back and forth. By the time it reaches someone else’s hands, it isn’t just a product, it’s a small world that has grown with us.
That’s the heart of StudioPlume.
